Still cold.....was 6 below last night.  Things are still going fine.  Yi Yi loves Barbie dolls.  We bought a Mulan Barbie for her basically because it was the only Asian Barbie I could find.  Spent a couple of hours yesterday with her making hair "things" for Mulan.  I brought a couple of craft kits that had the materials for friendship bracelets and some of that went for these hair items as well as belts etc. for Mulan.  I was getting stir crazy so made a sacrifice of one of the t-shirts I brought with me and started making doll pajamas.  They didn't turn out quite as good as the time I made Lane a tent for his  Corp  figures.  Considering all I had to work with was a super dull cross stitch needle and the thread from a cross stitch kit.......a sewing machine was sounding mighty good.

Tomorrow  we leave for Guangzhou at 1 pm here (Friday or 11 pm in Kansas, Thursday).  It will be an all day adventure.  The airport is an hour and a half away and the flight leaves at 4:20 but there is one stop where we must leave the plane with all of our belongings, be bussed to the terminal and then wait in the terminal for an hour before we get back on the same plane.  We did this on the way here too.

We are craving the temperatures in Guangzhou.  I checked the weather on line and it looks to be in the 70's while we are there.  It's a very pretty area and the flowers they have are beautiful.  They are just finishing hosting the Asian games so  the place is pretty spruced up.  In case anyone's wondering why we already know what it looks like it's because we had to spend the night there when we missed our in-bound flight to Lanzhou.

We are hoping to be able to attend church on Sunday.  We've heard there is an international church and as long as you have a passport you can attend there.  If anyone who has done this knows if this is correct and could let me know that would be great.  Please e-mail though as I can't read the comments left on the blog  while we are in China (flutevet@yahoo.com)

My sister is probably loving me to death right now as I keep coming up with little things I forgot for Christmas and asking her to pick them up for me.    We are thankful we'll be home Christmas Eve.

It's been a nice thing to hear all the Christmas music here.  From talking with locals they don't really get Christmas American style.  Not the real reason for the  season nor the secular way it is celebrated.  BUT, Yi yi knows these  Christmas songs and I've heard them with my own ears....Silent Night, O Holy Night, Joy To The World....and she knows them and is singing them in Chinese which would make me assume she's been taught them as what I hear in stores and on elevators, it's all in English.

I have a few more pictures to send and will try to get them downloaded later.

Blessings,
Lisa
